Construction of a new terminal in Kutaisi Airport will end in 2019. The construction works are in active phase. BM.GE was told at Georgian Airports Association that new terminal will open after full rehabilitation of the airport at the beginning of 2019 and it will handle triple more number of passengers.
Georgian Airports Association says: “The terminal was designed by Dutch architecture company UN Studio, while development analysis was prepared by IATA Consulting. The analysis determines all standards of services that an airport must satisfy. The airport will have 6 exits and it will be able to handle 1000-1100 passengers an hour.
The new terminal will cover 24 176 square meters. At this stage, Kutaisi Airport employs 440 persons. Their number will increase after completion of construction works. Construction works started in September 2017. The tender was won by Anagi development company. The tender value is 26.4 million GEL”.
