Georgia’s national dishes have been showcased for the first time at Sirha 2019, an international hospitality and food service exhibition in Lyon, France. Levan Kobiashvili and his group presented Georgian cuisine at the five-day exhibition held from 26 to 30 January.
The opening ceremony was led by the Mayor of Lyon Gérard Collomb and the President of World Cooking Contest Bocuse d’Or, Jerôme Bocuse.
The Bocuse d’Or is a biennial world chef championship. Named for the chef Paul Bocuse, the event takes place during two days near the end of January in Lyon, at the SIRHA International Hotel, Catering and Food Trade Exhibition, and is one of the world’s most prestigious cooking competitions. We have become members of the international culinary family. Professional chefs introduced Georgian cuisine to the visitors of Sirha 2019”, stated Deputy Head of the National Wine Agency, Davit Tkemaladze.
Georgian cooks displayed their culinary creativity and presented khinkali, khachapuri, chakapuli, dambalkhacho, kharcho, and elarji. Visitors had an opportunity to observe the cooking process and taste the food.
In addition, Georgia showcased its wine as well.
I want to say thank you to everyone who supported us. We are glad that visitors and experts showed their interest towards Georgian dishes”, says Levan Kokiashvili, participant of the exhibition. As a result of the exhibition, Jerôme Bocuse and his delegation will visit Georgia to attend the national contest of Bocuse d’Or championship. Georgians will participate at Bocuse d’Or Europe Culinary Competition 2020 in Estonia.
