Travellers considering visiting Georgia’s historical cultural sites now have a new application helping them explore options, with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia unveiling Cultural Routes Georgia for the purpose.
Featuring routes ranging from traces of 19th century German settlers in Georgia to a map exploring the rich history of winemaking on the territory of the country, the software presents routes certified by the Council of Europe and the Georgian ministry itself.
Introducing routes in parts of the country from the western Samegrelo province to the mountainous Svaneti, the app allows for adding select routes in favourites and sort featured content based on new additions, popularity or recommendations. Beside information about the towns established by German settlers and introduction of wine heritage, travellers can find routes presenting the Jewish legacy throughout Georgia, as well as a route following the 1858 trip of French author Alexandre Dumas across the Caucasus, journeys exploring thermal baths and prehistoric rock art, and more.
The launch of the software follows Georgia’s membership of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe in 2016. The programme involves 38 certified routes crossing 57 countries and over 1,500 cities.
The Cultural Routes Georgia app is available for Android and iOS platforms, with new routes expected to be added to its content in phases.
